Hello and welcome to YES YES, my monthly advice podcast for you, a paid subscriber of the Monday Monday newsletter, and it's February 2022. February 10th, to be exact. I'm sitting in my little cottage in Northern Michigan with June my dog, watching the snow fall, and so much has happened in my own life since the last time I came to you with my advice. I'm sure it will be woven in a bit to what we will talk about today.

As always, thank you so much for all your beautiful questions. Thank you all so much for all of your support and continued sharing of the newsletter. If you don't know, something I just discovered, is you can actually open this up in Apple Podcasts, subscribe to the feed and get it that way. And you can share it that way on Instagram and tag @marleegrace if you so wish to and perhaps tell a friend how great this episode is, but either way, I just wanted to share that I was so excited to see that you can do that. So something to think about.

Let's get to it, a few things of note first, I wanna say Co-working starts next week, Flexible Office. If you are interested in being around other people, let's see if you like, listening to my advice, you'll probably like co-working. If you need more accountability around your projects, you'll probably like co-working. I'd love to see you there. It starts Tuesday, February 15th. And yeah, I'm just feeling really excited, so I wanna invite you to that.

And that's sort of all on my personal docket right now. I have a few other class ideas in mind. I don't see any Quilt Class coming up right now. We'll see. I feel called to take a little break from that, but I have this Citizen Research class I've been planning. I have a group quilt that's been in the works, and just kind of settling into my new Michigan house. So those are my own updates.

What are we gonna talk about today? Giving up when you're trying to make the impossible happen. We're gonna talk about health, such a broad word. We're gonna talk about when it feels like, or if there factually is a lot, I don't even wanna say wrong, when there's a lot going on in the body, in the mind. We're gonna talk about that. We're gonna talk about the switch to Substack, supporting a depressed friend, and then how I came to know that I was non-binary and the process of coming out.

So that's what we're gonna do today on YES YES I'm so happy you're here. Grab some tea, grab a blanket, sit back, relax. I'm gonna take a sip of my half-caf oat milk latte, which is clearly providing me caffeination, obviously. Let's start with our first question.

🌼 QUESTION 1: How can you tell when you're trying to make something impossible happen? When actually the right thing is to let it go. I can't tell if I'm in the pain of transition or the pain of an ending (and yes okay all endings are beginnings--all transitions are endings/beginnings but that's just confusing me more). What's the process? I've lost trust in my discernment over when to keep going and when to change direction or step away. When things are hard like this, I can't tell what's the courageous choice and what's the cowardly choice.
